Biosketch
João Sarmento is a Geographer, lecturing at the Geography Department of the University of Minho since 1999. He received his doctorate in Geography from the University College Cork, Ireland (2001) and his Habilitation from the University of Lisbon (2014). He has published extensively in the fields of Cultural Geography, Postcolonial Studies, Tourism Studies, Urban Studies and Geographical Thought. His research focuses on Portugal, Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
