PhD in Geodesy and Geophysics at the University of Cadiz, Spain. Holds an Adjunct Professor position at the Algarve University where he has been teaching since 1997. His research interest is the response of the Earth’s lithosphere to tectonic and volcanic activity, and also to tidal (Ocean Tide Load) and glacial (Glacial Isostatic Adjustment) surface loads, observed by space geodesy comprising Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). Has participated in Antarctic campaigns to monitor Deception Island’s (South Shetland) active volcano and to quantify geomorphologic dynamics related to permafrost by space geodesy and visible remote sensing from satellites, photogrammetric flights and unmanned aerial vehicles.
