Gabriel Goyanes is Doctor in Geological Sciences graduated in March 2015 from University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. He had a postdoctoral fellowship supported by the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) from Argentina in the Instituto Antártico Argentino (IAA), oriented by the PhD Gonçalo Vieira and the PhD Yevgeniy Yermolin. He also is associated to the Consejo Superior Profesional de Geología in Argentina with the license number 2807. He works in Geocryology on the Antarctic Peninsula focused on the permafrost thermal regime and distribution, periglacial geomorphology analyses and geological risk associated to permafrost degradation. Recently, he also extends his studies to the Southern Andes in Argentina where he is analyzing hazardous processes associated with recent rapid glaciers retreat. Since 2010 he has been collaborating with the CEG/IGOT-ULisboa working with the GEOCRYOLOGY TEAM of ZEPHYRUS, counting already with eight summer Antarctic campaigns. More recently he has integrated this unit has a “Researcher collaborator”. Dr. Goyanes has been proven to be an important proactive research member along the projects he has been involved, showing to be highly qualified to handle and fastly respond in adverse situations. He is a young researcher strongly motivated to work within interdisciplinary contexts.
