Currently an FCT Researcher at Centro de Estudos Geográficos and member of the Research Group on Climate Change and Environmental Systems (Zephyrus). Her main interest is to understand global change effects on ecosystems, with an emphasis on climate change in Antarctica. She uses taxonomic and functional patterns (lichens, mosses, plants, and other organisms) to understand ecosystem functioning, and to build ecological indicators of global change effects. She was invited to present and propose her work on a global ecological indicator of global change impacts in the 12th United Nations Forest Forum held in the UN headquarters, NY. She led two projects in Antarctica and participated(s) in several others focusing on different regions of the globe.
