About TL3, as it comprises all the RGs, several of its actions cut across TL2 and TL1 domains, though directed to the applied research, public policies and services to the community, as mentioned in 6.3. Thus, TL3 will cover issues from all the major SC contents. Included examples involve different studies on strategies, policies, planning and assessment: SC1 – climate, health cities and human comfort (also with SC5); SC2 – eco-management of agro-systems and landscapes in peri-urban areas; rural development; local climate changes and crops growing; SC3 – energy efficient cities and regions, facing resources; SC4 – sustainable mobility in cities and regions; links between territorial development, social cohesion and the European transport system; impact of natural hazards; urban pollution and air quality; SC5 – impact of human activities on the environment, management plans and recovery of ecosystems; sustainable tourism in coastal areas; resilience in the preservation and management of tangible cultural heritage; indicators use and the transition towards a regional green economy and society; construction of Antarctic infrastructure as adaptation to a changing permafrost environment; SC6 – systems of indicators for European and national public policies; Europe as a learning region, innovation and regional development and contribution to global and multilevel governance, studying different world regions (namely Brazil and Portuguese speaking African countries); promotion of international and territorial cooperation, policy exchange and learning on spatial policies, practices and training; tourism, migration, integration and citizenship; inequalities, poverty, social inclusion and community development; tools and methods for sustainable, open, innovative and inclusive urban and peri-urban planning; territory collaborative policy modelling, simulation of decision-making and participatory systems; SC7 – civil protection and security for local communities and tourists/visitors.
