Regarding TL2, its RGs are going to respond to most of the SC’s great items. The SC1 means studies on: comprehensive health and wellbeing indicators, urban and demographic change, social cohesion, ageing, migration and touristic processes; sustainable communities and healthy cities. The SC2 comprises projects on greening of urban and peri-urban areas, garden tourism and ecotourism, and empowerment of rural communities. On the SC3, the urban smart growth and the regional eco-efficient economies are key issues. The SC4 will receive applications on urban form, integrated transport systems and sustainable mobility, including specific users. The SC5 will mean a complement (social issues) with the research of TL1 RGs on SC5. The SC6, Inclusive societies, involves research on: the European crisis and (alternative) responses facing the impacts of globalization; cities as hubs of innovation and centers of job creation and social cohesion; migration systems, transnational practices and networks, and student and touristic flows; migratory processes, urban dynamics, mobility, inclusive labour market, housing and residential strategies; inter-ethnic relations, gender, public space, socio-spatial integration and inclusion; urban metabolism, regeneration, resilience, development and urban living, culture and identities; quality of life of urban and peri-urban areas, urban-rural relations and local development; spatial governance, citizenship and participation.
Concerning Innovative societies, focus will be on: innovation policies, regional innovation systems and development; culture, creative cities, urban regeneration and consumption; the sea and the maritime cluster; mobility, tourism and regional-sectoral approaches; valuation of geomorphological heritage and geoturistic assets; culture heritage perception and responses. On Reflective Societies, the emphasis will be on: European diversity and intercultural development; practices of cultural interactions, integration and exclusion; Europe’s views vs. world’s views of Europe; European regions diversity, arts, landscape and culture.
