Health inequalities, inequalities in the territory: challenges for Portuguese-speaking countries
The right to health protection sparks a debate on the evolution of social rights and public policies embodied by States as instruments that provide these rights. At the same time, in addition to the growing involvement and accountability of individuals for the management of their own health, we are witnessing a set of factors that have deserved special attention from studies on Geography of Health due to the influence they have: demographic aging, environmental changes, access to health and literacy, among others.
To achieve satisfactory health solutions, it is important to discuss the validity of the policies and practices that shape access, education, well-being and that adjust the epidemiological profiles dominant in different regions, at different scales.
Therefore, GeoSaúde 2020 aims to bring together researchers, decision-makers and technicians from different backgrounds for a transdisciplinary, stimulating and necessary debate, analyzing challenges present in Portuguese-speaking countries, continuing the 1st Congress of Health Geography of Portuguese-speaking Countries held in 2014.
To achieve the stated objectives, GeoSaúde 2020 is divided into 7 strategic axes that seek to cross different perspectives that, in a cumulative way, invite the academic and scientific community to add value and meaning to the health agendas present in Portuguese-speaking countries, through the submission of original works, referenced by the respective strategic axes, in order to build communication blocks or posters that will be the subject of presentations and discussions on September 8, 9 and 10, 2020.
